Stoeger Presents Volunteer of the Year Awards at Delta Duck Hunters Expo

Waterfowl conservation for current and future generations of hunters is largely carried on the backs of dedicated volunteers across North America.

Stoeger, a passionate supporter of the wildlife and habitat conservation efforts managed by these hard-working volunteers, was proud to present this year’s Delta Waterfowl Volunteer of the Year Awards to two standout volunteers at the Delta Duck Hunters Expo in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on July 27, 2024.

Delta Waterfowl’s Volunteer of the Year Award, presented by Stoeger, recognizes chapter leaders who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and effort in supporting the organization’s mission to promote waterfowl population growth and to secure the future of waterfowl hunting throughout North America.

Participants in the Volunteer of the Year awards program include members who are nominated by Delta Waterfowl chapters across North America as outstanding volunteers in their local organization. This year, 292 nominees were presented at the Duck Hunters Expo — all of whom were recognized by their local chapters for their dedication to Delta’s mission — with 12 finalists selected. Delta Waterfowl has more than 5,000 volunteers among 325 chapters across the United States and Canada.

This year’s top Volunteer of the Year winners were Porter Trimble of Deville, Louisiana, and Murray Rowlings of Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia. As part of the recognition for their outstanding volunteer service, Porter and Murray both received a set of four shotguns, including the Stoeger M3500 Waterfowl Special.

“While we all enjoy the excitement and tradition that is waterfowl hunting,” said Stoeger USA President, Tom DeBolt, “it is important to remember that our success in the field is credited in large part to the dedicated members and volunteers who do the hard, in the field work that results in healthy waterfowl populations and the sustainment of critical waterfowl habitat. It is our honor to recognize volunteers like Porter Trimble and Murray Rowlings for their dedication in preserving our waterfowl hunting heritage for future generations.”
