The Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) proudly announces that Roel Lopez, Ph.D., head of the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management and director of the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute, has been named the 2025 HSCF Conservationist of the Year.
Dr. Lopez was recognized for his outstanding contributions to conservation during the 2025 HSCF Worldwide Hunting Expo & Convention. His dedication to wildlife and habitat preservation, policy development, and education has made a lasting impact on the future of natural resource management.
Each year, HSCF presents the Conservationist of the Year Award to an individual or organization that exemplifies an unwavering commitment to conservation. Nominees are evaluated for their efforts in education, advocacy, legislation, policy, environmental initiatives, and the protection and preservation of wildlife and habitat. Dr. Lopez’s work aligns with HSCF’s mission of ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy and appreciate the natural world.
