Sagen Maddalena, Paris 2024 Olympic medalist, claims gold in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the 2025 International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Lima, Peru, April 17.
“I’m just coming out and doing my job,” said Maddalena after her win. “I’m feeling just fine,” I’m sure it will hit eventually.”
This Lima World Cup marks Maddalena’s first international competition since she won a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 positions.
“I wasn’t sure if I was ready, but then yesterday a light switch just went off and compete mode really started.” said Maddalena, a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. “I’m happy I met my goals. I wanted to make a final and do well in it.”
The Paris Games marked Maddalena’s second Olympics and first Olympic medal. She has worked hard to earn her place in the top ranks of the international shooting scene. At the 2023 Pan American Games, she was crowned champion in Women’s 10m Air Rifle, earned silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, and bronze in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team. At 2022 ISSF World Championships she earned gold in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, silver in Women’s 10m Air Rifle Team, and bronze in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
The skeet team earned an impressive five medals earlier this week. The U.S. Women’s Skeet athletes swept the podium with Kimberly Rhode claiming gold, Samantha Simonton earning silver, and Dania Vizzi winning bronze. Dustan Taylor topped the podium in Men’s Skeet with a gold medal, marking his first individual ISSF medal. Christian Elliott shared the podium with Taylor by earning a silver medal.
