DSC is thrilled to announce Rebecca Jones, Jay Leyendecker, and Russell Stacy were elected to the DSC Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting held March 13 as voted on by the members.
“I am excited to get to work with the three newest directors,” said Rob McCanna, DSC CEO. “All five candidates were highly qualified and represent the best of what DSC stands for. Our membership had a very difficult choice to pick only three. I appreciate all of the members who took the time to vote, and the three new directors will hit the ground running as we quickly move forward into the Summer Expo.”
The three candidates who were elected come from different professional backgrounds and bring their own unique perspectives to the table.
Rebecca Jones is a dedicated outdoorswoman, hunter, and conservation advocate. Already a board member with the Texas Wildlife Association and Her Upland, Rebecca brings a unique blend of executive leadership, strategic people expertise, and deep conservation values to DSC.
“I’m honored to be elected to the Dallas Safari Club Board of Directors and deeply grateful for the trust of our members,” Rebecca said. “I’m committed to strengthening our community through deeper membership engagement and a lasting multigenerational conservation legacy, ensuring that hunters of all ages—seasoned sportsmen and women and the next generation alike—are connected and empowered to protect our hunting heritage. Together, we will expand our impact, advocate for wildlife conservation, and secure the future of sustainable hunting for generations to come.”
Jay Leyendecker is a native Texan and former African PH, who now serves as a well-known real estate broker at Hall and Hall. Jay is a longtime volunteer and supporter of DSC and stepped in and served on the board last year as an interim appointment. He has dedicated his life to the betterment of the land and wildlife.
“It’s an immense honor to serve the sustainable-use conservation community on a global scale,” Jay said. “Going forward, I hope to convey the importance of hunting and the positive impact that it makes on wildlife conservation efforts and humanity, locally and across the globe.”
Russell Stacy is a well-known figure around DSC. Having co-chaired the Convention for the past three years alongside his wife, Mary Edith, and numerous other volunteer roles, Russell has a long history of serving DSC and its mission. A fourth generation Agri-Business operator in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Russell’s involvement in conservation and wildlife organizations has been an integral part of his career development and philanthropic endeavors.
“I am honored to serve a second term on the Dallas Safari Club board and to continue working alongside our dedicated board members, staff, membership, and exhibitors,” Russell said. “Together, we have accomplished great things, and I look forward to building on that momentum. The future holds exciting opportunities for DSC, and I am committed to advancing our mission and ensuring even greater success in the years to come.”
The three new Directors will join six other Directors on the DSC board, part of the 17 voting board members of DSC. Each elected Director will serve a three-year term.
