Design and Materials

Magpul has a reputation for producing high-quality firearm accessories, and this bipod is no exception. Constructed from Mil-Spec hard anodized 6061 T-6 aluminum, stainless steel internals, and injection-molded reinforced polymer, the bipod strikes a balance between strength and weight. This combination ensures durability without adding unnecessary heft to the firearm.

The bipod’s sleek aesthetics are complemented by its availability in multiple finishes, including Black and Flat Dark Earth (FDE), allowing users to match it to their firearm’s color scheme. The design is both functional and visually appealing, reflecting Magpul’s attention to detail. The black one matches perfectly with the black Umarex Zelos PCP air rifle, maintaining that black tactical look.

Weight

Designed for the 1913 Picatinny rail, this bipod weighs 11.8 oz (334 grams). If you have a rifle with the popular Uncle Mike’s style sling swivel stud, the Magpul manufactures MOE Bipod that attaches and detaches quickly and easily thanks to its rapid-attach sling stud mounting system. That one weighs ONLY 8 ounces! That is probably the lightest bipod on the market!

Mounting and Compatibility

Designed specifically for attachment to 1913 Picatinny rails, the bipod ensures a secure and stable connection. This standardization means it is compatible with a wide range of firearms equipped with Picatinny rail systems. The installation process is straightforward, allowing users to attach or detach the bipod quickly as needed. We needed a bipod for the Picatinny rail but if your gun doesn’t have one there is no problem. Magpul makes the same bipod for M-LOK, Sling Stud QD, and A.R.M.S. 17S Style attachments. Mounting this bipod on Zelos Picatinny was a 30-second job.

Leg Deployment and Adjustability

One of the standout features of the Magpul Bipod is its user-friendly leg deployment mechanism. The spring-tensioned legs stow neatly forward and, with a single-handed operation, snap down and lock into place. This design ensures rapid deployment, which can be crucial in dynamic shooting scenarios.

Each leg is adjustable, offering a length range from 6.3 inches to 10.3 inches in 7 half-inch increments. This adjustability caters to various shooting positions and terrains, providing shooters with the flexibility to adapt to their environment. The legs also feature multiple locking positions, enhancing stability on uneven surfaces. This bipod is designed for streamlined storage until deployment. Folded, the sleek housing and legs fit neatly under the barrel and are just under 2.3” deep and 3.3” wide.

Pan and Tilt Functionality

The bipod offers both panning and tilting capabilities, enhancing its versatility. The panning function allows for a 20-degree swivel to the left and right (40-degree total), facilitating smooth target transitions without repositioning the firearm. The tilt function provides up to 25 degrees of cant adjustment (50 degrees total), enabling shooters to maintain a level reticle on uneven ground.

These features are particularly beneficial in dynamic shooting environments where quick adjustments are necessary. The ability to pan and tilt without repositioning the bipod ensures that shooters can maintain their shooting position while tracking moving targets or adjusting to changing terrains.
