Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) hosted over 200 veterans and families at the San Antonio Police Training Academy for its 15th annual day of range time, great food, and prizes. HAVA focuses on fun for the entire family. The day also included a shooting demonstration by the greatest competitive shooting in history, Jerry Miculek.
This unique event was established to thank veterans and their families for their sacrifice to our country and is free to all attendees. It is organized and sponsored by HAVA and supported primarily by the firearm and outdoor industry. The day was filled with lots of laughter, smiles and generally a great day for those who have given so much for their country. HAVA founded this program to thank these great Americn’s and cultivate an environment where these vets and their families feel appreciated, respected, and rewarded, for their sacrifice. At the end of the day, valuable donated products, primarily by the firearm industry supporters, were raffled to the veteran/active duty attendees.
HAVA Family Day, and all HAVA events are organized and managed by volunteers, many of which are also former military veterans – some of which are disabled as well. “It certainly lets us know they care,” said Chris Fleming, HAVA’s Event Manager and Marine veteran. “The veteran community is not just a number or a customer. They genuinely care about the veterans they’ve supported since day one.”
