IHEA-USA Launches 2025-2026 50 for 50 Instructor of the Year Program

Lolo, MT —— The International Hunter Education Association (IHEA-USA) is proud to announce the launch of the 50 for 50 Instructor of the Year program, a nationwide initiative recognizing excellence in hunter education across all 50 states. This year’s program is presented in partnership with Henry Repeating Arms and GSM Outdoors, two companies that exemplify dedication to conservation, education, and responsible outdoor traditions.

As IHEA-USA celebrates more than 50 years of advancing safe and ethical hunting, the 50 for 50 program honors one outstanding volunteer educator from each state. These instructors are nominated by their respective state agencies for going above and beyond in delivering high-quality hunter education. Each recipient exemplifies what it means to be a model instructor, dedicated to teaching new hunters the values of responsibility, safety, and stewardship.

“Hunter education instructors are the heartbeat of our mission,” said Alex Baer, Executive Director of IHEA-USA. “They don’t just teach rules or skills—they pass on an ethic of safe, responsible hunting that sustains our outdoor heritage. We’re thrilled to spotlight these exceptional educators with the support of Henry Repeating Arms and GSM Outdoors, whose partnership makes this recognition possible.”

The 50 for 50 program reflects IHEA-USA’s commitment to evolving hunter education for today’s learners. By honoring instructors who lead with innovation, mentorship, and a deep respect for ethical hunting, the program celebrates the very people who are bringing our mission to life—whether in classrooms, on the range, or in the field. These educators are helping bridge generations and ensure that hunter education remains accessible, impactful, and rooted in responsibility.

Thanks to the generosity of this year’s sponsors, each instructor will be honored for their contributions to hunter education and the broader outdoor community. Their stories will be shared throughout the year via IHEA-USA’s platforms, inspiring future educators, students, and industry partners alike.
