Sheridan, WY – September 4, 2025. Weatherby, Inc., one of the most iconic names in firearms and ammunition, proudly celebrates its 80th anniversary. Founded in 1945 by historic wildcatter Roy Weatherby, the company has remained family-owned and is now led by third-generation owner Adam Weatherby.
To honor eight decades of innovation and tradition, Weatherby is introducing two special releases: the Mark V 80th Anniversary Commemorative Rifle and a limited return of retro ammunition boxes. Together, these offerings blend the past, present, and future of Weatherby.
The 80th Anniversary Commemorative Rifle pays tribute to Roy Weatherby’s legacy with a classic look that reflects the company’s storied history, while incorporating modern features and materials, creating a beautiful blend of past and present. This unique rifle embodies the craftsmanship and forward-thinking designs that have defined Weatherby for 80 years.
Engraved Mark V Titanium Action
The heart of this rifle is its precision-machined, ultralight Mark V titanium action. The design of the action hasn’t changed since 1958 but titanium material wasn’t introduced into the Mark V lineup until the Mark V Backcountry in 2019. With custom filigree engraving, this combination is the perfect blend of historic functionality and cutting-edge innovation. Titanium is naturally corrosion-resistant and a half-pound lighter than traditional steel receivers. These receivers are machined in Weatherby’s Sheridan, Wy facility.
Engraved Straight Fluted Bolt with Checkered Bolt Knob
Featuring a Diamond Like Carbon coating (DLC) finish, the straight-fluted bolt cycles with smooth precision, while the checkered bolt knob provides both a secure grip and timeless appeal. Intricate filigree on the bolt sleeve, along with the engraved motto “Tomorrow’s Rifles Today,” honors Roy Weatherby’s vision and enduring legacy.
Engraved BSF Carbon Fiber Barrel
The tensioned carbon fiber and engraved barrel offers reduced weight, excellent heat dispersion, and consistent precision. This is our first time using a carbon barrel in combination with a wood stock, blending current technology with the timeless warmth and beauty of walnut. This rifle is guaranteed to shoot SUB-MOA.
Engraved Accubrake DST
Directional Brakes are all the rage these days, reducing felt recoil and muzzle rise. We gave this brake some classic flair with a custom engraving. Not a brake fan? No worries, this rifle’s barrel is threaded and comes with a classic thread cap.
Exhibition Grade Monte Carlo Walnut Stock with Rosewood Caps and Maple Spacers
This classic Monte Carlo stock is made from high-grade walnut with rich grain and a hand-rubbed oil finish. It features rosewood caps with maple spacers on the grip and forend, along with detailed checkering for a secure hold. The grip cap is finished with Weatherby’s signature maple diamond, a timeless mark of tradition.
Custom Engraved Bottom Metal and Engraved Stainless Steel Trigger Guard
The stainless steel trigger guard and bottom metal are both detailed with custom engraving to complement the rifle’s overall design. The floorplate features the exclusive 80th anniversary logo, marking this rifle as a true collector’s piece.
TriggerTech Trigger
A zero-creep, crisp-breaking TriggerTech trigger ensures a clean shot every time. Its consistent pull weight and drop-safe reliability make it the ideal match for the precision built into this rifle.
Custom Serial Number
Each rifle is individually numbered with a custom prefix 80- marking our 80th anniversary. No two are alike, and we haven’t released custom serial number prefix’s since we’ve been at our Sheridan, WY facility.
Custom Protective Hard Case
Each rifle comes in a gorgeous custom-fit hard case with protective foam and Weatherby branding. It’s more than just packaging; it’s a presentation that reflects the legacy and craftsmanship of the rifle inside.
300 WBY
This rifle is chambered in one of Roy Weatherby’s original magnum cartridges, the .300 WBY Mag. Known for its speed, flat trajectory, and hard-hitting performance, it remains one of the most iconic hunting rounds ever developed and is possibly the best all around cartridge ever.

“These releases are about more than just products; they’re about celebrating the legacy my grandfather began 80 years ago. The 80th Anniversary Commemorative Rifle and the return of our retro ammo boxes honor where we’ve been, while pointing to where we’re going. These products truly blend past, present, and future.”
