2025 Rifle “Gear Up” Program

2025 Rifle “Gear Up” Program

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after more than four decades on this earth, it’s that “free” is always pretty exciting. When I was a kid, I’d wait the whole year round to fill a backpack up with free candy, and the novelty of cost-free goodies hasn’t much abated. These days, I’ll capitalize on free trials to test out new software or binge-watch a TV show, and even a free sample can make a trip to the grocery store a little less ho-hum.

For those reasons, it’s exciting to share that Springfield Armory is going to be running another of its “Gear Up” promotions between February 1st and April 30th of 2025. Anyone who buys a Hellion or AR series rifle and signs up before that window closes will receive a sack full of goodies. And let me tell you, what’s being doled out here is pretty appealing.

The Gear

First, eligible purchasers will get one additional magazine matching the type that’s already in their magwell. As I’ve said of magazines in the past, more is more. Most guys I know like to have at least six for their various rifles for a variety of reasons. Practically, less time reloading means more time shooting if you’re the kind of person who needs to squeeze a range trip in between life’s other obligations. On the more serious side of things, you’ll need extra magazines to practice speedy reloads.

Next up, Springfield Armory is throwing in a single point sling absolutely free. A lot of novice users are unaware of how fatiguing it is to carry a rifle for more than about 10 minutes at a time. Professional users, on the other hand, know full well the value of a good sling.

Lastly, Springfield Armory is giving eligible purchasers a Crimson Trace CT-103 Red Dot. The unit is large enough to provide a good field of view through the optic while still providing a compact and light form factor. The unit also comes with its own integral riser to put it at a comfortable viewing height for most users.

All in all, Springfield Armory rates the value of this package at up to $250. Not bad for a cost of zero bucks. Now, let’s dig into what qualifies.

Any Springfield Armory AR Rifle

The SAINT 5.56mm will provide users with an intelligently considered AR that’s anything but “plain Jane.” Users benefit from a mid-length gas system, along with M-Lok handguards, flip-up irons, and a nickel-boron coating applied to the hammer and trigger to make the standard pull slicker and smoother than what you’d get from a mil-spec gun or lower parts kit.

The Victor and Edge flavors of the SAINT line of rifles are for those shooters who want a little extra. On the SAINT Victor series, you’ll find free-float handguards, factory-installed muzzle breaks and flat-faced triggers. The Victor series also has options in both 9mm and .308 Winchester beyond just 5.56mm, for shooters desiring a more ammo-economical or harder-hitting platform, respectively. Meanwhile, the SAINT Edge 5.56mm leans a little harder into the “match” side of things, with a lightweight barrel, ambi safety, short reset match trigger, and a machined billet lower receiver flared.

And lastly we have the SA-16A2, a semi-automatic-only recreation of the M-16A2, one of the most capable and iconic rifles in history. With its M16A2-pattern bolt carrier group, A2-pattern upper receiver, bayonet lug and more, this is a great addition of a classic-style rifle to the Springfield AR line.

The Hellion

If you’ve never seen a “bullpup” before, you’re likely to do a double-take. The primary benefit of these designs is a drastic reduction in overall length relative to conventional rifles. Essentially, you’re getting an SBR-sized rifle that still conforms to federal law with respect to the minimum allowable barrel length of 16”. The Springfield Armory Hellion is an outstanding bullpup chambered in 5.56mm, and offered with 16”, 18” and 20” barrel length options.

Historically, the disadvantages of bullpup platforms have been poor triggers, a lack of adaptability, and ambi-unfriendly operation. Historically, anyway. As a next-generation design, the Hellion can be adapted for right- or left-handed use, features an adjustable/collapsible five-position buttstock and an M-Lok accessory system, and a very good trigger. This is absolutely a next-generation design, in both form and function.

Redemption

If you were considering purchasing an AR or a Hellion now that the requisite holiday spending on friends and loved ones is in the rearview mirror, getting up to $250 worth of free stuff makes for a pretty sweet purchase incentive.

This offer will last through April 30, 2025. Eligible buyers must show proof of purchase and fill out a redemption form online by that date. Once completed, Springfield Armory will mail the care package to your doorstep. Promo items are subject to change based on availability, and this cannot be used in conjunction with any other Springfield Armory promotion.
